Murano is a small island in the Venetian lagoon that has been making glass since 1291 — when the Republic of Venice moved all its glassmakers there, partly to protect the city from fire, and partly to keep the secrets of the craft contained. Seven hundred years later, Murano glass is still made by hand, still colored with the same mineral oxides, still shaped by the same techniques passed down through generations of the same families.
This earring is inspired by that tradition — resin beads crafted to capture the depth and color of Murano glass, while keeping the earring light enough to wear all day without noticing the weight. Paired with an organic freshwater baroque pearl, hand-selected and one-of-a-kind. The combination of color and luster, playful and considered at the same time, is very Venice.
